It's Christmas! The Christmas season is a special interlude and a break from the busyness of our lives. I love to hear Christmas carols, Christmas music in the shops, and to watch the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers. Everyone seems a bit more jovial and there is a spirit of celebration in the air. It is also a time to visit, to partake of Christmas food, to find some personal time, to read and relax, and to simply enjoy the season.
Notwithstanding personal trials we may endure, there are so many more benefits and blessings that we can be thankful for. We live in a great country where personal freedom, the pursuit of justice, and the rule of law is the norm.
Yes, we can celebrate with hope, for as Isaiah the prophet says in Isaiah 9:6:
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
As you gather with family and friends, may you celebrate with peace, hope, and goodwill toward all mankind. Sally and I extend from our home to yours best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and happy and prosperous New Year.
