The City of Weyburn and representatives of the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show will be an exhibitor at one of the world's largest oil shows, the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary, running from June 12-14.

The Weyburn delegation will include Mayor Debra Button, representing the City of Weyburn; Jenna Wilchuk, marketing coordinator for SEREDA; and Sandy Alexander, board member, and Tanya Hulbert, administrator for the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show.
"We're bringing one of the displays from the Energy Innovation Centre in City Hall, which will be modified to include the Oil and Gas Show," said Hulbert, adding they will be handing out postcards detailing when the next Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show will be held.
"The city makes lots of contacts with potential businesses looking to come to the city. We give out lots of demographic information on the city that the Chamber of Commerce does up, plus the Chamber gives us their welcome profile kits that we give out to new or prospective businesses, to let people know about Weyburn," said Hulbert.
The next Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show will be held on June 5-6, 2013, at the Weyburn exhibition grounds; the golf tournament (weather permitting) and setup for the next show will be on June 4.
The Calgary show has been held biennially since 1968, and this year the Global Petroleum Show will welcome over 60,000 registered attendees from 95 countries, with more than 2,000 companies showcasing the latest in oilfield technology.
Held at Calgary's Stampede Park, the show is held over 700,000 square feet, with delegations, presentations and exhibits from countries as diverse as Japan, Korea, Bahrain, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Norway, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The highlights of this showcase include giving over 1,000 guests a taste of Canada with activities including curling, bobsledding, hockey and more, on the evening of June 12.
On June 13, there will be an international energy leaders forum, a business forum between the European Union and Canada, and an outdoor rodeo.
There will also be a Global Energy Career Expo, and about 6,000 candidates are expected to be on hand to find out about careers in the oil and gas industry.
Some of the notable exhibitors include Aggreko, Kuwait Oil Company, Sanjel, Stewart and Stevenson, Strad Energy Services and many others.
For the Weyburn Oil Show, packages are being prepared to send out in June to previous exhibitors, who will have until Sept. 30 to sign up for the Oil Show, as they have the right of first refusal for the 2013 show. A waiting list will be started on Sept. 1.
While it's early in the process yet, Hulbert noted an average of 80 per cent of the exhibitors at the last show will rebook for the next one.
"We have a great response from people," she added.
