City police arrest man after a search for drugs

As a result of an ongoing investigation, members of the Weyburn Police Service executed a drug search warrant at a local residence on Saturday.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, members of the Weyburn Police Service executed a drug search warrant at a local residence on Saturday. The search resulted in a 20-year-old man being arrested and charged with possession of a quantity of drugs greater than 30 grams. The man was later released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
The Weyburn Police Service received report of a Canada Revenue Agency fraud on Jan. 22. The victim was contacted by an individual who threatened that they would be arrested if they did not immediately pay back taxes. The victim was instructed on how to go about paying and eventually sent the caller money. Police are again warning everyone that CRA does not demand immediate payment and threaten arrest over the phone. If contacted by anyone you do not know who is asking for money to be sent, please call the police.
Police responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Souris Avenue and Government Road on Jan. 22. The investigation determined one of the vehicles had failed to stop for a red light, hitting the other vehicle in the intersection. Weyburn EMS also attended the scene and checked occupants of both vehicles, and no injuries were reported. The driver, a 34-year-old male, was charged with failing to stop for a red light.
Police received reports of two vehicles that had been parked in the northeast area of Weyburn, near the same location, being entered overnight Wednesday. Numerous items including a wallet and cash were taken. The incidents remain under investigation.
Police investigated a report of mischief on Wednesday, after receiving information of graffiti being sprayed onto a sign and statue. Police identified a 69-year-old male as a suspect. He was later located and warned of his actions. No charges were laid.
Weyburn police received a report of an assault from a 31-year-old woman on Jan. 23. The suspect, a 33-year-old woman, had approached the victim and a confrontation had occurred with the suspect pushing and yelling at the victim. The victim suffered no injuries. The investigation identified the suspect who was subsequently located and spoken to. No charges were laid in the incident.
Weyburn police received a report of mischief on Friday, after a vehicle was observed to be doing doughnuts in a parking lot. The dangerous driving resulted in gravel being flung through the local businesses windows. The incident remains under investigation.
The Weyburn Police Service received a report of a missing 20-year-old male on Friday. Police later located the male, who was then returned to his residence.
Police received a report of a vehicle being entered and numerous items being stolen on Friday while it was parked overnight. Some of these items were later located a short distance away and returned to the owner. The incident remains under investigation.
Police received another report of a parked vehicle being entered overnight on Friday and cash being stolen. The incident remains under investigation.
City police were dispatched to a fight in progress at a local hotel on Friday. Upon arrival the individuals had left the scene but were located a short distance away. The individuals were not cooperative regarding the assault. A 35-year-old female was found to have warrants for her arrest from Regina, and was remanded in custody to appear in court in Regina on Monday.
A member of the Weyburn Police Service conducted a vehicle stop on Friday, and during the course of the investigation, found the driver to have a warrant for his arrest. The driver, a 48-year-old man, was arrested and later released to appear in court at a later date.
Police conducted a vehicle stop on Saturday and determined the driver, a 62-year-old man, was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, and as a result of the investigation, was charged with impaired driving, and driving while over .08. The accused was later released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
The Weyburn RCMP responded to the scene of an accident on Highway 13 approximately three kilometres east of Stoughton, which occurred on Sunday morning around 10 a.m.
Highway 13 was blocked and traffic was detoured while the accident was investigated and cleared away. A semi and a pickup truck were involved in the collision, and no serious injuries were reported.
