City police investigate vehicle fire, commercial break-ins

The Weyburn police responded to two commercial break, enter and thefts and an attempted break-in having occurred overnight on Thursday.

The Weyburn police responded to two commercial break, enter and thefts and an attempted break-in having occurred overnight on Thursday. At this time police believe them to be related to other recent commercial break-ins and are continuing their investigation. If anyone has information about these incidents, they can call either the Police Service at 306-848-3250 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
• City police received a call regarding a vehicle fire at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday. The investigation revealed that the vehicle fire is suspicious in nature and police are working with the Weyburn Fire Department in this investigation.
The Weyburn police are asking anyone having knowledge of this incident, or who may be able to provide information regarding a vehicle that was seen in the 600 block of Brimacombe Drive just before the incident, to call either the Police Service at 306-848-3250 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
• City police received a report of a man who had been assaulted at about 3 a.m. on Sunday. During the investigation, a suspect was located and arrested. A 30-year-old male is now facing charges of assault and will be making a court appearance.
• The Weyburn police received a call regarding the uttering of threats in a broken-down domestic relationship on Oct. 17. Upon investigation a 30-year-old male has been charged with uttering threats and will be making a court appearance.
• City police received a call that ended up being a domestic incident at about 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 18. Through the investigation, a 29-year-old male was taken into custody under the provisions of the Mental Health Act and was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital for assessment.
• Weyburn police received information on Thursday that a male person had registered at a local hotel and was representing himself as a medical doctor doing medical procedures.The Weyburn Police Service contacted the College of Physicians and Surgeons, who confirmed that the person was not in fact a medical doctor and was not qualified or licenced to perform medical procedures.
