At 7:19 a.m. on June 10, police responded to a call of mischief done to a residential yard. Sometime the previous evening someone had entered the yard and broke a planter, causing approximately $100 worth of damage. The mischief is still under investigation.
Police attended to a single vehicle accident on private property on June 10. The young unlicensed driver had started a vehicle in the driveway, put it into gear and drove through a garage and hitting another shed, causing a substantial amount of damage.
On June 13, police had received a complaint of a missing 38-year-old man who resides in Assiniboia but works in the Weyburn area. The Weyburn police had sought the assistance of the media and the public in locating Roland Roberge. Roberge was located in Assiniboia safe and sound.
City police attended to a domestic violence call between a mother and son in the early evening of June 10. The adult son in a fit of rage caused extensive damage to the home by punching holes in the wall, ripping off doors, breaking furniture and dumping paint on the floor. The 18 year old male was arrested, and charged for mischief to the home. He was later released on conditions of no contact with his mother. He will appear in court on July 3 to face the charges of mischief.
Police investigated a minor accident early the evening of June 10. While sitting at a stop sign on Moore Street where it intersects with Highway 39, a vehicle was rear-ended by a semi truck bearing Manitoba plates. The accident is reportable as it involves an out-of-province vehicle. The owners exchanged information, and police submitted an accident report to SGI, but the amount of damage was minimal, and there were no injuries.
At 2:11 p.m. on June 11, police were requested to assist in locating a child who ran away from home. The child was located a short time later by police and taken home.
City police attended to an accident at the intersection of Highways 39 and 13 on June 11. There were no injuries but vehicles had to be towed from the scene. One driver was charged for leaving the stop sign before safe to do so under the Traffic Safety Act.
City police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Railway Avenue on June 12. Both vehicles were east-bound, when one of the vehicles failed to stop and rear ended the front vehicle. The occupant of the front vehicle was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. The operator of the second vehicle will be charged for undue care and attention and/or following too closely.
Later in the evening on June 12, police attended another motor vehicle accident where one vehicle rear-ended another vehicle in the northeast area of town. The damage was minor, and no injuries were reported. Drivers exchanged information and were directed to insurance to report.
On June 13, police received a report of a middle-aged missing man, who had not been seen since June 1, 2012. Police entered into an investigation and by 7:30 p.m. the man was located in Regina. He indicated that he had been staying with a friend up there since the beginning of June.
At approx 9:30 p.m. on June 13, police attended a call where individuals had forced their way into a vacant home on South Hill and were sleeping there. The individuals responsible were not identified by police. Police contacted the property owner to secure the premises.
City police attended to a complaint of threats being made between two adult males on June 13. One was alleged to have threatened to shoot the other. The matter is still under investigation, but there is a history of conflict between the two individuals.
Police attended to a call of an individual committing an indecent act in his vehicle in a public location around 6 p.m. on June 14. A description of the vehicle and the individual has identified a suspect. The matter is still being investigated but will likely result in criminal charges against the individual.
City police attended to a minor accident on Friday at the intersection of 16th Street and Highway 39. A vehicle was hit by a semi when both vehicles were making right hand turns. There were no injuries, and drivers were directed to exchange information and report to insurance.
Police attended to an accident on 13th Street in the early morning hours on Saturday where a vehicle drove through a fence and a garage. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident on foot. The offending vehicle was seized and the operator who is known to the police will be located and held accountable for leaving the scene of the accident as well as their driving actions.
Late Saturday evening, police attended a call of a dispute between individuals. One of the individuals in the conflict would not settle down and had to be subsequently arrested for causing a disturbance. He was taken into custody and released a short time later.
Police attended to an unconscious male found on the ground outside a local hotel late Saturday night. The individual had been in a fight and was knocked unconscious, and left on the ground while the other individual left the scene. Witnesses suggested the fight was consensual but did not know the other party involved. The matter is still under investigation.
Police attended to a number of noise complaints over the weekend. There was also a number of reported minor mischiefs done to property and vehicles. Police continue to receive a number of calls in relation to aggressive sales tactics by door to door sellers. Over this reporting time police responded to a number of alarm calls.
There were also a number of alcohol-related calls for service, as well as a number of driving suspensions handed out for drinking and driving.
