The annual WCS Fowl Supper, probably the last fowl supper of the season, will be held in the Cugnet Centre from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (note starting time) on Thursday, Dec. 1. This is a great time to celebrate the season, enjoy a fine meal (food donated by the school activity groups), enjoy the school’s fantastic bands and choirs and have fellowship with your friends and neighbours.
The cost is $12 and children five and under are free. Tickets are available at the door. This activity has built into a great team-building opportunity for the students and staff as well as a great fundraiser for the SRC which is always in need of money to allow the many opportunities to take place for the students during the school year.
The school has a very large venue and can handle whatever crowd arrives until they run out of food. There is plenty of parking around the Cugnet Centre and as well in the west parking lot.
The two senior volleyball teams participated in SHSAA provincials this past weekend. The very young girls’ volleyball team placed fourth and the boys were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Basketball is now in full swing along with wrestling and curling. There will be a home wrestling tournament (Cugnet Centre) on Saturday, Dec. 3 along with a senior girls’ basketball tournament (Eagle gym) on Dec. 2 and 3. This will be followed by a senior boys’ basketball tournament on Dec. 9 and 10.
The STARS Choir organized a great “80’s” show on Sunday with upward of 400 spectators. It was completely run by the students and there was a good time had by all. The “Seussical” presentation also wrapped with a very well-attended run and a great performance.
The combined choir and STARS Choir are journeying to Regina on Monday, Nov. 28, to do a concert at Argyle School and then perform in the Regina Rotary Club Carol Festival at Knox Metropolitan Church in the evening. In past years this week-long event has been broadcast live on Access Communications.
Christmas music concerts will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12 and 13 in the Cugnet Centre.
