A Grade 9 information night will be held on Tuesday, March 20, starting at 7 p.m. in the Cugnet Centre.
The evening will include class selection, school programs, supports and expectations, the Student Advisory system, math options, advanced placement English programs and extracurricular offerings and activities. All Grade 9 students and their parents are encouraged to attend.
The choral/band part of the Weyburn Rotary Music Festival is taking place this week and much of it includes WCS students. They will be performing in the Cugnet Center for three sessions today, March 14, and two on Thursday, March 15.
The elementary choruses are performing Wednesday morning and the senior choirs in the evening. Instrumental classes are on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning while the bands are Thursday afternoon.
The Weyburn Comp is hosting SHSAA regional senior girls basketball playoffs for all of the rural 5A schools. These will include Prince Albert Carlton, PA St Mary's, Yorkton, North Battleford, Swift Current, Notre Dame and the Comp Eagles. They will play North Battleford Comprehensive School on Friday at 8 p.m.. Winners will advance to a championship pool starting at 11:45 Saturday with the final at 5 p.m. Losers will get a consolation game.
The boy’s team will be going to North Battleford for regionals.
The cheerleaders will be participating in the “Best of the West Cheer” in Regina this weekend.
There is no school on Friday for students as it is a professional development day for teachers.
The fruit orders through WCS students will be distributed on Monday, March 19. The sellers will pick up the fruit between 5 and 8 p.m., and will deliver it to the customers. The customers are not to pick it up at the school.
The cast for this year’s presentation of “Beauty and the Beast” has been chosen and now the practices begin. Performances will be the last week in May.
