A few students and staff from the Weyburn Comprehensive will attend the Canadian Leadership Conference in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont., last week. This is a fabulous conference that WCS students have been attending for many years and was hosted here in Weyburn in 2012.
They not only get useful information from exceptional speakers and presenters but also interact with top students from across Canada.
Other students have just returned from the Saskatchewan Leadership Conference which was held last week and which Weyburn has also hosted in the past. Over 600 students from across Saskatchewan attended the three-day conference. All students should take advantage of opportunities to travel and attend other meetings, conventions and tournaments, as this is the best education possible when you interact with other people.
Community card sales have got off to a great start. Students are selling them for $20 each to the general public and there will be a community blitz in October. Please contact the school if you want to buy one and they will send out a student to fill your order.
The Co-op Volleyball Challenge between WCS and ECS will be held here in Weyburn on Wednesday, Oct. 4. This is developing into an annual competition between the two rival schools that is patterned after the basketball McLeod Series that has been going since 1932. It is a home-and-home series with any school winning three matches declared the winner. Plan to come out and see some great volleyball, with games at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the Eagle gym.
