Weyburn Comp teacher Rod Neviadomy was recognized for his work at the provincial level in the SYA (Saskatchewan Youth Apprentice program). He joins WCS teachers Karen Kennedy-Allin, Joanne Jensen and Margot Johnston who have gained provincial and national recognition for their teaching and extra-curricular programs at WCS.
The girls’ soccer team season came to an end on Saturday in Estevan when they were unable to advance to the playoffs in the SHSAA Provincial 3A finals. The girls were in very tough against the largest schools in the province but had a great year and are looking forward to next year.
In volleyball this upcoming weekend, the senior girls are in Swift Current, the senior boys in Yorkton and the junior boys are hosting a tournament here in Weyburn.
There will be a Career Fair for students in Southeast Cornerstone on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Students will be able to check out institutions of higher learning and other opportunities when they graduate. All parents are also invited to visit the fair and gather information about post-secondary education and other opportunities for their students. The Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Cugnet Centre.
There was a Halloween assembly on Tuesday, and the traditional Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 7. This has evolved into a very moving ceremony to remember all those that made the supreme sacrifice.
A successful food bank challenge was completed on Friday.
Tickets are on sale at the main office for the junior musical “Aladdin” to be performed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 28 and 29.
