Cottonwood Terrance is an unique condo, which offers suites that are completely barrier-free — which means that all the amenities are designed so there are no barriers for those who depend on a wheelchair or walker.
The barrier-free condo suites of “Cottonwood Terrance” will be showcased by Re/Max Weyburn during open houses held at 709 First Avenue northwest on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. on both days.
Each of the suites in the Cottonwood Terrance are completely barrier-free, right down to walk-in bathtubs and handles instead of doorknobs for easier access. Also, each suite is self-contained so that all the amenities that would be needed can be accessed in the suite itself.
It is important to note that a potential tenant doesn’t have to be in a wheelchair to take advantage of the benefits of the barrier-free suites.
The suites can suite anyone who wants more freedom in their lives — but are having trouble with stairs or other tripping hazards. It is independent living in a new way that has never been introduced before in Weyburn.
Each suite includes two bedrooms, with extra storage areas with easy access.
The layout of the condos are open concept from the kitchen, to the dining and front room (which includes a breakfast nook).
Amenities include their own washer and dryer, dishwasher, walk-in bathtub, and a foldable chair in the shower stall.
Appliances such as a fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher are already installed.
Also, each unit comes quipped with their own furnace, their own water heater and air conditioning.
Other features of the suites include a walk-in pantry, under cupboard lighting, and upscale window and door trims. The flooring in vinyl throughout the suite — except in the bathroom, where it is ceramic tile.
Even from the parking lot, there are no steps or sidewalks into the condo entrance. There is no main condo entrance and each unit has their own private entrance and parking area.
The guest entrance to each suite is also secure, as there is a pre-wired security system alarm with video which displays on the TV, allowing the owner to see who is at their door before allowing entry into the suite.
Each suite also includes a covered deck and has an option of a storage shed attached to the far end, where a barbecue, lawn chairs, or a scooter could be kept.
The condo association will also provide a caretaker for the grounds, so there is someone to look after cutting the grass and removing snow from the parking driveway.
Outdoor features of the Cottonwood Terrance includes a chain-link fence on three sides, a decorative fence with a sign, paved driveway and parking, and landscaping and trees.
The paved driveway is designed so that it circles around the condo so that vehicles never have to back into First Avenue.
