Diane Bell becomes an ACBL Life Master

At a Regional Duplicate Bridge tournament held in Moose Jaw, the team of Barry Mactaggart, Diane Bell, Gord Bell, and Marg Stewart won a Bracket 2 Knock Out game held April 11 and 12 earning each team member 11.24 gold points.

At a Regional Duplicate Bridge tournament held in Moose Jaw, the team of Barry Mactaggart, Diane Bell, Gord Bell, and Marg Stewart won a Bracket 2 Knock Out game held April 11 and 12 earning each team member 11.24 gold points. That was enough for Diane Bell to become an ACBL Bronze Life Master having over 500 ACBL points, including the required 25 gold points. Congratulations, Diane.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club will hold its annual meeting on May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre prior to playing bridge at 7 p.m.

Also there will be no bridge on May 8; instead bridge will be on Wednesday, May 7 at 7 p.m.

On April 3, with four and a half tables, Isabelle Butters and Marg Stewart finished in first place; Jean Knibbs and Jean Fahlman came second; Barry Mactaggart and Warren Betker were third; and Gord and Diane Bell were fourth.

With five tables playing on April 7, first place went to Jim Brown and George Gillies; second place went to Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart; third place went to Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel; while fourth went to Erskine and Mildred Sandiford.

April 10 had three and a half tables in play. Having a strong game to place first were, Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart; placing second were Erskine Sandiford and Andy Dumba; and placing third were Gord Bell and Marg Stewart.

Five tables played on April 14 and Jim Brown and George Gillies took top honours; Bernie Dufour and Diane Bell placed second; Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart finished third; and Gord Bell and Rick Wanner were fourth.

On April 21 there were four tables and Bernie Dufour and Millie Nimegeers were first place finishers; Gord Bell and Marg Stewart placed second; and Jim Brown and George Gillies were third.

Three tables played on April 24 and first place went to Marion Brown and Theresa Istace; while second place went to Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart.

April 28 had four tables and first place went to Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart; second place went to Bernie Collins and Jim Benison; third place went to Jim Brown and George Gillies.

Duplicate Bridge is played on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre. All bridge players are welcome.
