An online Facebook auction will be happening to support Mason Wigley, who has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma, and items are needed for the fundraiser.
On Feb. 4, Mason, the 21-year-old son of Dean and Christie Wigley of Estevan, had surgery to remove what was thought to be a benign cyst from the side of his neck. The surgeon informed the family and Mason it didn't look like a cyst once they started the surgery. A 45-minute surgery soon turned into a two-hour and 45-minute operation.
The doctor said he would call if it turned out to be anything other than a cyst.
On Feb. 19. Mason was informed he had diffuse B-Cell lymphoma.
Within a few short weeks, Mason and his family have made four trips to Regina and one trip to Saskatoon, when he had a number of different tests, including a pet scan and bone marrow tap. His first round of chemotherapy was March 10.
Mason and his family lived in Carnduff for a few years, where his dad worked for local trucking companies, and Christie worked in the legion lounge. He and his brother attended the Carnduff Education Complex.
This past year Dean and Christie started their new venture. With the crash of the oil patch, they ventured into the food truck industry, creating Elephant Ear Emporium, right the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's been a tough year for this family, so a few of their friends have decided to put together an online auction to try to help offset some of the expenses this family will see in their future.
Several items have already been donated, and more are needed. If you would like to donate anything for this auction, please contact Chris Jones at 306-482-8212, or Kayla Petterson at 306-421-9181, or message them on Facebook with your items and a picture for donations.
They will also set up an account at a financial institution in Estevan if anyone would like to donate.
All auction items will be paid via e-transfer, and a date and place of item pick-up will be set at a later date.
The auction will start on March 30 and run for 48 hours. More info will be posted on the auction’s Facebook page just prior to the auction starting.
