Weyburn Comprehensive School is excited to celebrate this year’s Education Week. Education week runs from October 15 to 20, and this year’s theme is “Building Our Future by Learning Together.”
The Weyburn Comp will be hosting a “bring your parent to breakfast” event on Wednesday, October 18. They will be serving coffee and cookies in the Colleen Weimer Hall from 8:15 to 9 a.m. WCS’s choir will be performing, and parents are welcome to come enjoy some quality entertainment while they sip their morning coffee with our staff and students.
Another year’s Communithon will be kicked off on Friday, October 20, which will once again be hosted in the Cugnet Centre. As a Communithon fundraiser, the WCS SRC is conducting a teacher prepared lunch auction. Students can participate by bidding on teacher prepared lunches. Teachers can get quite creative, and students compete to buy delicious meals. The lunches will be served throughout the week, and all money raised by the donated lunches is to be presented by the SRC to Communithon 2017.
The WCS choir and band programs will showcase some of their best throughout the day with the Grade 10 choir on at noon and the Grade 10-12 choir on at about 12:30 p.m. The WCS band students will be playing throughout the day with performances as follows: senior concert band – 8:30 a.m.; Grade 8 concert band 9:10 a.m.; Grade 9 concert band 9:30 a.m.; junior choir at 11:40 a.m.; junior jazz band at 2:50 p.m.; and senior jazz band at 3:10 p.m. Keep an eye out for Communithon schedules in next week’s Weyburn Review and Weyburn This Week.
All year long WCS is active with many extracurricular programs and academic endeavours.
