There will be elections held in some of the towns and villages in the Weyburn region, with some municipalities seeing large slates of candidates following the close of nominations on Wednesday.
The election day for all municipalities will be on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and most will set their own days for advance polls.
One of the races will be for the Village of Pangman, with several candidates for mayor and for council.
For mayor, the candidates are Katharine Bryson, Darlene Kessler, Dave Wolstenholme and John Strutt.
Running to fill four spots on council are Doug Lewgood, Matt Bailey, Robyn Verot, Lori Wolstenholme, Lindsay Johnson, Eileen Tunall, Wanda Sambrook, Charles Larson, Mary-Ellen Schneikart, Brittany Tuck, Gail Stanton and Kelly Schneider.
In the Village of Creelman, where two meetings were held in the past year to see if there was enough interest for an election, the mayor was acclaimed, Gordon Kolish, while there will be an election for council.
The candidates are Jason Decker, Justin Churko, Kim Lockie, Angie Campbell and Joel Verville.
For the Village of Goodwater, there is a new mayor, Greg Collins, who was acclaimed. Running for two council positions are Lionel Wanner, Karen Jordan, Perry Pelchaty and Brad Ernst.
The Town of Yellow Grass is short two members of council, but those who were nominated are acclaimed, with mayor Dave Byrns, and councillors Carol Irvine, Jerome Hoffart, Norm Wall and Robin Byrns. A second call for nominations has been made for two more councillors, with the deadline of Wednesday, Oct. 5.
The mayor and council for the Town of Midale are all acclaimed, including incumbent Mayor Al Hauglum, and incumbent councillors Leonard Thompson, Conrad Keturakis and Armond Hauglum, and new councillors Devin McIndoe, Evan Wild and Greg Prawdzik.
There will be an election for mayor for the Town of Stoughton, with candidates incumbent Bill Knous and Tom Sangster.
The councillors are in by acclamation, including Pat Shiels (inc.), Chelsea Schindel (inc.), Stefan Clark (new), Rob Andris (new) and Colleen Andris (new).
The council is short one councillor, so there is a second call for nominations with the deadline of Wednesday, Oct. 5.
If there is one nomination, that person will be acclaimed, and if there are more, there will be an election between those candidates.
For the Village of Fillmore, Marvin Chambers was acclaimed as the mayor, while former mayor Dean Hanson and incumbents Ava Dunham, Verla Hovind, Lorne Johnston and Jason Smith are competing for the four positions on council.
The council for the Village of McTaggart were acclaimed, with Kevin Donald as the mayor, and councillors Ken Cross and Larry Butz.
