The number of active cases of COVID-19 in South East Zone 4 significantly dropped again.
According to the May 18 COVID-19 update, there were 129 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, with seven in the South East region. Four of those cases are in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan.
Three new deaths are reported today. All three individuals were in the 70-79 age group and from the Far North East, 1; and Saskatoon, 2, zones.
The number of active cases in Zone 4 is at 105, down 25 from May 17.
The other new cases in the South East are in Zone 2 (1) and Zone 2 (2).
The other new cases in the province are located in the following zones: Far North West, 1; Far North East, 5; North West, 18; North Central, 14; North East, 4; Saskatoon, 47; Central West, 3; Central East, 5; Regina, 22; South West, 1; and South Central, 2. Three cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North West, 1; and Regina, 2.
After 269 new recoveries, recoveries total 42,494 and 1,825 cases are considered active.
There are 142 people in hospital, same as the day before. One hundred and fifteen people are receiving inpatient care including four in the South East. Twenty-seven people are in intensive care, none from the South East.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 187 (15.3 new cases per 100,000).
There were 2,629 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 17.
An additional 5,399 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 608,524. South East received 381 dose.
Seventy-five per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Sixty-eight per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Fifty-nine per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
