There are five more recoveries from COVID-19 to report in south East Zone 4, which includes Estevan, on May 27.
There were 12 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Zone 4 on May 27 as well, leaving the area with 59 active cases. The number of active cases went up in comparison to the previous day for the first time in a few days.
There was also one new case in South East Zone 1, which is northwest of Zone 4, and another new case in the South East Zone 2 to the north of the region.
Saskatchewan is reporting 118 new cases, 216 recoveries and six new deaths on May 27. There have been 46,163 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in Saskatchewan.
Six new deaths are being reported today. One death in the 60-69 age group, two deaths in the 70-79 age group, and two deaths in the 80+ age group, all from the Saskatoon zone. One death was also reported in the 70-79 age group from the North West zone.
The other new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 2; Far North East, 3; North West, 8; North Central, 19; North East, 2; Saskatoon, 33; Central East, 6; Regina, 23; and South Central, 2. Six new cases are pending residence information. Three previously reported cases with pending residence information were added to the North West, 1; Saskatoon, 1; and South East, 1 zones.
Recoveries total 44,247. Thirteen of the new recoveries are from the South East.
A total of 1,382 cases are considered active, with 100 in the South East, five up from the day prior.
There are 127 people in hospital, with 100 receiving in-patient care and 27 in intensive care. Two people are receiving in-patient care in the South East, same as the day before.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 137 (11.2 new cases per 100,000).
There were 2,583 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 26, with 160 in the South East. Totally, there were 48,906 tests processed in the South East.
An additional 9,427 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 679,274. Included in that total was 719 doses in the South East region.
Seventy-six per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Seventy per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Sixty-four per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
As of May 26, 10,367 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, including 1,045 in the South East.
