The first day for Re-Open Saskatchewan begins today, May 4, with certain services and recreational facilities allowed to be open, as a gradual relaxation of the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previously restricted medical services are allowed to reopen, including dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, optician services, podiatry, occupational therapy and chiropractors.

Public access will also be allowed for medical spas for therapeutic services provided by a licensed medical practitioner for Saskatchewan residents.

Boat launches can open as of May 4, and the fishing season for the southern zone opens on Tuesday, May 5.

Golf courses will be allowed to open on Friday, May 15, for the start of the Victoria Day long weekend.

All golf courses must take precautionary measures, including expanding the cleaning and disinfecting of common high-touch surfaces, with physical distancing to be observed at all times.

Outdoor individual recreation will also be permitted as of May 15, and parks and campgrounds will open as of Monday, June 1, with online reservations for provincial parks to launch today, May 4.

Precautionary measures need to be taken, the same as with other services and facilities. Overnight stays prior to June 1 are permitted for individuals with long-term sites in private campgrounds and regional parks.

Other than in an allowable business, the size of public and private gatherings remains at a maximum of 10 people.

Phase Two will begin on Tuesday, May 19, and will include retail operations that were previously not allowed.

This includes clothing stores, shoe stores, flower shops, sporting good and adventure stores, vaping supply hops, boats, ATV and snowmobile dealers, gift, book and stationary stores, jewelry and accessory stores, toy stores, music, electronic and entertainment stores, pawn shops, travel agencies, marinas and u-pick produce.

Shopping malls can also open on May 19, and select personal services as well, such as hairstylists, barbers, registered massage therapists, acupuncturists and acupressurists.

Garage sales are not permitted at this time, but will be reassessed for later phases.

No dates have yet been set for the final three phases of the Re-Open plan.
