WEYBURN — The Weyburn Police Service (WPS) responded to 86 calls for service during the week of Aug. 18 to Aug. 25.
WPS say some notable incidents include:
Theft of vehicle
Aug. 18 — Police received a report of a stolen truck from behind a business in Weyburn. The owner had a tracker on the vehicle, which assisted police in quickly locating the truck. An adult male was arrested without incident, and the vehicle was returned to its owner without damage. The man was held in custody for court.
Cause a disturbance
Aug. 23 — Police were dispatched to a private gathering where an adult female was causing a disturbance. She was located outside the residence, highly intoxicated. The female was arrested for being drunk in public and later released when sober.
Impaired driving / over .08
Aug. 23 — In the early morning hours, police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Douglas Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop and suspected the adult male driver had consumed alcohol. He was detained for an impaired driving investigation, found to be impaired and arrested. The male was charged accordingly and later released.
Assault with a weapon / utter threats
Aug. 23 — Police responded to a residence in Weyburn regarding a domestic disturbance. An adult male was arrested for breaching conditions prohibiting him from being at the residence. Further investigation revealed he had assaulted an adult female and threatened to cause harm to another adult male. The suspect was charged with several offences and remanded for court in Weyburn on Tuesday.
