Communithon superhero Shayda Cook paints a kitty-kat design onto the face of Loxlyn Carlson, at the Duck Derby and Family Fall Festival on Sunday. The event was held to kick off this year’s Communithon campaign, with about 2,200 ducks sold for the duck derby, raising a total of $3,780 to start the United Way campaign for 2016. A hot dog barbecue was held along with the face-painting, a craft centre and bouncy houses to make it a family-centred event. Communithon will be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29, with a goal of $130,000.
