There are 26 GFK student leaders and 4 chaperones attending the very first "We Day Saskatchewan" at the Credit Union Centre on February 27th, 2013! The students are getting very excited about this day that is centered around social action.
The Student Leadership Team is selling "We Are Love" buttons in the month of February. All proceeds will support "We" initiatives around the world.
Junior drama practices continue every Thursday after school from 3:30pm to 5:00pm from now until April. Senior drama practices are every Monday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Curling practices are Tuesday and Thursday after school. The Regional Festival is in Lampman on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20.
Senior Badminton practices are Tuesday evenings. Junior Badminton practices are Tuesdays after school.
The Search Institute has identified the building blocks of healthy development that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible. The Cougar Corner will list 2 of these 40 Developmental Assets each week for the next 20 weeks. One of these assets is "Creative Activities." The Institute reports that for healthy development, young people should spend at least 3 hours a week in lessons or practice in music, theatre, or other arts. Another asset is "Youth Programs." Healthy young people spend 3 or more hours per week in sports, clubs, or organizations at school and/or in the community.
