Weyburn Comp graduate Alex Hes is in Toronto at York University this week for the Next Generation Leaders Forum, a trip she was awarded as a double-award winner as a member of the Junior Achievement student company, “In The Mix”.
She won awards for Information Technology Excellence, and as Achiever of the Year. For the latter award, she was given an expenses-paid trip to the Next Generation Leaders Forum, an international forum hosted by Junior Achievement Canada.
In the speech Alex gave at the awards banquet for the JA company, she noted that as the vice-president of information technology, she set high standards for herself.
“One of the ways I personally achieved my goals was through my extreme dedication to the company. I put in over 80 hours of overtime to help In the Mix run smoothly and achieve success, as well as personally bringing in over $1,200 in revenue,” said Alex.
In addition, she researched ways to cut production costs and enlisted businesses as sponsors of the company, She also ensured that supplies for the company were ordered ahead of time so that they never ran short.
“Because I dedicated myself to achieving my goals and exceeding my expectations, I helped our company achieve great success, learned valuable life skills, and established in myself a sense of pride that will stay with me forever,” said Alex.
At the leaders forum, students will have a unique experience to meet and network with students from around the world involved in the Junior Achievement program. They will participate in hands-on workshops, hear from industry experts.
