Guest speaker at Midale Thanksgiving Day service

Midale (cpd) - Midale's Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be hosting a Thanksgiving Day service on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. The guest speaker is Eunice Erickson and she will be speaking on her life in Ethiopia, Africa.

For Education Week, the elementary students will be focusing on fire safety. The teachers are looking for parent volunteers to come in the morning of Oct. 24 to help run fire safety stations.

Please contact your child's teacher if you're able to help out.

The Weyburn Fire Department will be bringing a fire-simulator trailer for the Kindergarten to Grade 9 students to go through on Thursday, Oct. 24. This trailer simulates common household fires and teaches students fire safety. It also simulates the sound of a tornado. The Midale Oilmen's Association sponsored this event for the students at Midale School.

Midale Central School's annual Scholastic Book Fair is this week. The school benefits from every dollar spent at the fair. They are able to purchase new books and resources for the students and teachers. This is a perfect opportunity for those birthday presents, Christmas gifts, and baby gifts. The book fair runs from Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3:20 p.m.

The school's fluoride rinse program began on Tuesday and will keep going every week throughout the school year. Barb Duncan and Catrina Moldenhauer agreed to continue doing this program for the students.

Torilee Scharnatta travelled to Little Loon Lake for provincials last weekend. Torilee finished 58th out of 92 athletes and broke her personal best record.

Last year's yearbooks were handed out on Oct. 17. Several families have still not purchased their yearbook from last school year (2012-2013). The deadline to buy one is Nov. 7. It is on a first-come first-served basis and once they are gone, parents won't be able to buy one.

Elementary volleyball has started for any students interested in Grades 3 to 6. Practices will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20 to 4:20 p.m. It will run until middle of November with the windup on Nov. 21.

The Midale Rec Board's annual trade, craft and bake sale will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There are already 23 confirmed vendors offering an assortment of handmade crafts, baking, cooking needs, and jewelry. Call Catrina Moldenhauer to book your table. Tables are $20 each.

The Midale Mustangs home opener against Wawota will be on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.
The Midale Skating Club will begin skating on Nov. 7.

The Midale Lions Club will have their Santa Parade on Saturday, Nov. 2. The parade will gather at Manley Park at 10 a.m., and leave there at 11 a.m. Please call Marilyn or Wayne Gust to enter a float into the parade.
