A Weyburn principal was honoured as one of Canada's Outstanding Principals for 2014 on February 25 in Toronto, Ontario, and received a surprise on top of the recognition.
Haig School Principal Arlene Dobson was also the recipient of a $20,000 customized technology package to help support learning opportunities for Haig School from Samsung.
Samsung joined The Learning Partnership, a national charitable organization dedicated to supporting, promoting and advancing publicly funded education in Canada, to surprise these principals with news that they will be the first recipients of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow technology grants for their schools.
Samsung started the Solve for Tomorrow education program in 2010 in North America to help support 21st century learning goals, raise awareness and interest in science, technology, engineering and math subjects and to help reduce the technology gap in classrooms.

"With The Learning Partnership's expertise and unparalleled network in public education, we look forward to working together to bring both research insights and technology solutions to the classroom to impact student achievement."
Haig School is one of two schools in Saskatchewan to receive this grant, with the other $20,000 going to St. Mark Community School in Saskatoon.
Dobson and the other outstanding principals were nominated by their peers, school staff and community members in every province and territory.
