A complaint has been filed against one of the candidates who ran in Souris-Moose Mountain in the last federal election.

The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) has filed a hate speech complaint with the RCMP against Canadian Nationalist Party (CNP) leader Travis Patron, who hails from Redvers, after a flyer was posted on the CNP's social media pages a week ago.

The FSWC has also written to Saskatchewan's Minister of Justice and Attorney General Don Morgan.

No charges have yet be laid.

The flyer, titled "Beware The Parasitic Tribe" and signed by Patron, quotes a video in which Patron refers to these people who “infiltrate the media, they hijack the central bank, and they infect the body politic like a parasite," and states "what we need to do...is remove these people, once-and-for-all, from our country."

The flyer also says “the people we speak of are not truly ‘Jews.’”

An RCMP investigation into the video was launched last summer when it was first shared online.

In a message on its Twitter page, the Canadian Nationalist Party said its Facebook page and YouTube account have been suspended since the flyer was released.

“To date, we have violated no ‘hate speech’ legislation whatsoever. Therefore, we demand both accounts be fully reinstated immediately. We have submitted an appeal to both social media companies to reinstate our associated accounts,” the CNP said in a news release.

Patron finished sixth in Souris-Moose Mountain in the 2019 federal election.
