The South East Cornerstone Public School Division has announced that Kevin Hengen will fill the role of Superintendent of Schools for the east service area commencing August 1, 2015.
Hengen attended school from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in his home town of Arcola, Saskatchewan. He received his Bachelor of Education degree (1994) from the University of Regina and returned to Arcola where he began his teaching career in 1995. While at Arcola School, he took on the role of Vice-Principal for two years (2005-2007), then moved to Stoughton Central School where he was employed as Principal for one year (2007-2008). He then became Principal of Arcola School in 2008, the position he currently holds, where he has been in some educational capacity, either as a student, teacher or administrator for just over 30 years. During his principalship in Arcola, Hengen furthered his education and received a Masters of Education degree from Brandon University (2010).
Kevin and his wife Carrie currently reside in Arcola with their two children, Taylor and Shaleen, who both attend Arcola School.
Although he has thoroughly enjoyed his years at Arcola School, in anticipation of the next chapter in his career, Mr. Hengen remarked, "I am excited about the new challenge that is in front of me and look forward to working with the Board of Education, the Senior Leadership Team and the schools in the east area of the school division to continue to improve the learning outcomes of our students."
Director of Education Lynn Little stated, "Mr. Hengen has been a tremendous leader at the school administration level. He, along with his staff, community, School Community Council and partners have worked collaboratively to improve the learning outcomes for all students in Arcola School. We anticipate Kevin will bring these skills to the system level in his new position and will assist in affecting learning outcomes positively for all students in SECPSD. We look forward to Kevin's contributions and to working with him in his new capacity."
