A highway chase that started in Weyburn ended on the set of Corner Gas in Roleau Saturday morning, with an Alberta woman now facing several charges.
Stephanie Martens, 27, from Okotoks, AB was in Regina court June 30 for a show cause hearing.
She is facing charges including: impaired driving, three counts of dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, three counts of possession of stolen property in relation to licence plates, one count of stolen possession in relation to personal identification, and flight from police.
Around 10 a.m. on Saturday police received calls about a truck that was excessively speeding, and driving erratically on Highway 39 near Weyburn.
Weyburn Police officers and RCMP tried to stop the 2014 Dodge Ram, but ended up backing off because the truck was driving too fast. The truck kept driving north, fast and erratically, on Highway 39, even hitting an R.V. near Milestone.
Weyburn Police and RCMP called ahead to White Butte RCMP, and Regina and Moose Jaw Police to give them a heads up about the truck. Moose Jaw Police officers set up a trap near Drinkwater with a spike belt prepared, but the truck never made it there.
The Dodge Ram was found damaged and abandoned next to "The Ruby" on the set of "Corner Gas" in Roleau.
Witnesses at the movie set assisted with information that led police a short distance away where the 27-year-old female was arrested without incident and taken in to custody.
The vehicle was towed to the RCMP Forensic Identification Section in Regina where it has since been examined. The truck had been reported stolen from Calgary, and the license plate had been reported stolen from Manitoba.
Martens made her first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on June 28.
