Peter Schaefer and Dale Renz of the Esso Cup organizing committee present the flag for Hockey Canada to Mayor Debra Button at the city council meeting on Monday evening, to fly at City Hall during “Esso Cup Week”. Weyburn is hosting the national midget girls hockey championship, and the mayor signed a proclamation at council to officially declared the week of April 17-23 as “Esso Cup Week”. The games begin on Sunday at Crescent Point Place, and will be held throughout the week, culminating in the gold medal game on Saturday, April 23, which will be broadcast live on TSN across Canada.
