Horticulture Society presents trophy awards

The Weyburn Horticulture Society presented the trophy awards for 2016 at their meeting on Oct. 25, held at the Perfect Inns. In Class 1, the Eva Howell Trophy for best house plant went to Alice Schneider.

In Class 1, the Eva Howell Trophy for best house plant went to Alice Schneider.
For Class 2, the Jean Procknow Trophy for the best display of cut flowers went to Tory Metheral.
In Class 3, the Shirley Jacob Trophy for the best display of roses went to Ilene Johnston.
In Class 4, the Gennie Girardin Trophy for best vase or basket of sweet peas went to Darrel and Joyce Rodine.
For Class 5, the Weyburn Horticulture Society Trophy for best dahlia was presented to Beth Weger.
In Class 6, the George and Anne Pierce Trophy for best three spikes of gladiola went to Heather Cugnet.
The Class 7 Weyburn Horticulture Society Trophy for best floral art went to Heather Cugnet. In Class 8, the Joyce Hemphill Trophy for the best floral arrangement went to Janet Woodard.
The Anne Pierce Trophy for People’s Choice was presented to Grace Plonka.
The Class 9 Sam Beggs Trophy for the best plate of potatoes went to Janet Vanwinkoop.
The Class 10 J.H. Spence Trophy for best plate of apple crabs went to Janet Vanwinkoop.
The Alice Walters Trophy for the best collection of fruit went to Darrell and Joyce Rodine.
In junior exhibits, the Youth Gardener Trophy for Best Novelty was presented to Houstyn Gerry.
The grand aggregate trophies were presented for overall winners in various categories.
The C.W. Steele Silver Cup for gladioli was presented to Heather Cugnet.
The Weyburn Young Fellows Silver Cup went to Lorraine Herberholz.
The Jim Weir Silver Cup for total points for vegetables went to Janet Vanwinkoop.
In the Junior Class, the Swift Memorial Trophy for total points went to Laura Woodard.
The D.J. Mitchell Trophy for total points overall, with 94 points each, went to Grace Plonka and Janet Woodard.
