The Weyburn Comp’s award-winning Entrepreneurship student company, “In the Mix”, wrapped up their year on Friday morning capping off the highest revenues of any student-run company to date.
The company, which made and sold jars of cookie and brownie mixes, sold a total of 1,400 jars, exceeding their initial goal of selling 1,040 jars, said teacher Margot Arnold.
Out of the proceeds, the students bought $1,037 in groceries which were donated to the Salvation Army’s food bank.
Each of the student shareholders received a return of $365, which were handed out at the end of the final board meeting on Friday, held at the Credit Union’s Community Room.
One of the award winners, Alex Hes, the vice-president of information technology, will be going to the Next Generation Leaders Forum in Toronto on Aug. 7-13, which will bring in Junior Achievement leaders like herself from all over the world.
The students also made draws for the raffle prizes which were a part of the operations of In the Mix.
The prize of an airplane ride, donated by AC Safety Services, was won by Bernadette Green. The pamper basket was won by Moriah Johnson. This prize package includes Crystal Clear Esthetics from Crystal Andrews, a gift certificate from Teach and Trim at Southeast College for two pedicures and manicures, a gift certificate for $10 off any service at LyNa Day Spa, a three-pack spray an from Fabutan, a half-hour angel card reading from Angelshells, and wine rack materials for a hand-made wine rack made by company member Mason Blackburn and his dad Dickie.
A wine rack made by the Dickies was won by Barb Mullen.
Students from the company were provided tickets to attend the Sask. Business Hall of Fame where the JA awards were presented. The tickets were provided by the Weyburn Credit Union, Community Futures Sunrise and the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce.
