Ed Komarnicki has announced he will not seek another term as the Member of Parliament for the Souris-Moose Mountain Constituency.

In a press release issued Thursday morning, Komarnicki said he made the announcement at a recent constituency board meeting.

"There comes a time when you have to decide whether you will run again, and that time for me is now. In fairness to the Souris-Moose Mountain Conservative board and to the constituency, I felt it important to announce my decision early in this term," Komarnicki said.

Komarnicki was first elected to parliament in 2004 and was re-elected in 2006, 2008 and 2011, each time by a landslide. Although he was never named a minister, he did serve as parliamentary secretary on a number of portfolios. He was also instrumental in landing federal money for local projects such as Spectra Place and the Saskatchewan Energy Training Institute.
