Programs and special activities for children and adults are set for the Weyburn Public Library through the month of February.
The storytime sessions for young children are set once again, with special activities including a preschool Valentine science activity on Monday, Feb. 12 at 10 a.m., for children aged three to five, and Lego Club on Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 2-3:30 p.m., and Monday, Feb. 26 from 3:45-5 p.m.
A “Chocolate Olympics” event is slated for Saturday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. for children aged six to eight, and at 3:30 p.m. for those aged nine to 12 years.
Board games and X-box will be available on Wednesdays, including Feb. 7, 14 and 28 for those aged seven to 12 years. During the February break, there will be a “Games Galore” activity on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. for those aged six to 12.
Activity clubs like Think Tank, Studio A and Kidzone are all set, and a family movie will be shown on Friday, Feb. 23, featuring “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”.
For adults, a wide range of activities will be available, including one to be hosted by the Wey Better Speakers Toastmasters Club. They are hosting a “Get the Word Out” event on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m., and are accepting video game donations to replace games for Playstation and X-box which were recently stolen.
A class for readers and writers, “One Word”, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. An evening for henna tattoos will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.
Forever … in Motion classes will be held on a drop-in basis on Mondays at 10 a.m., and Thursdays at 10 a.m. Orientation for using the 3-D printer at the library will be held today, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m.
For Adult Thursdays, there will be crib, cards and chess on the first Thursday of the month at 2 p.m., Colourful Café on the second Thursday of the month at 2 p.m., Outreach on the third Thursday of the month, and Senior Chats on the fourth Thursday of the month at 2 p.m.
The book club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p .m., and they are currently reading “Annie Freeman’s Fabulous Traveling Funeral” by Kris Radish. The book selection for March will be “Dead Rock Stars” by Wes Funk, and will be available at the library on Friday, Feb. 16.
A class for Faux Stained Glass will be held, with the first part on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. and the second part on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
An introduction to crocheting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Birdhouse decorating will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.
Matinee movies are held every Friday at 2 p.m., and include “Pride and Prejudice” on Feb. 9, “When Harry Met Sally” on Feb. 16, and “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” on Feb. 23. A special Valentine’s Day dessert theatre will be held on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m., where attendees can make jam heart pie pops and watch the movie, “10 Things I Hate About You”.
