Local Habitat for Humanity has chosen a location for first home

The local Habitat for Humanity chapter held an information evening on June 19.

The local Habitat for Humanity chapter held an information evening on June 19. The committee announced that Weyburn's first volunteer-built house will be located in Riverwood, which is the new subdivision being developed on the former Souris Valley hospital grounds.

Nicor Development, the company that is developing the area, is working with the committee to secure a lot.

Another informational meeting will be held on July 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Legion Hall.

"People can come and listen to the guidelines and the requirements in qualifying for this program," said committee chair Winston Bailey. "At the end of it, there will be application forms for those who feel they qualify."

Bailey noted that the support the group has been shown has been overwhelming.

"We will be making announcements soon of all the cash donations as well as the in-lieu-of-cash donations that are already in place," he added.

Those wishing to donate or volunteer for the Weyburn Habitat for Humanity project can contact the local office at 306-842-2216 or email [email protected].
