The third annual Beef-a-Rama took place July 13 at the Community fair grounds in the SportsPlex at Glenavon, Saskatchewan. Participants came from Raymore, Vibank, Indian Head, Weyburn, Ogema, Montmartre, Fillmore, Francis, Wawota, Neudorf, Milestone, Wolseley, Arcola, Pangman and ranged in age from three years to 21 years of age.
Classes included conformation, showmanship, cattle judging and academic/art classes with entries in public speaking, literature, photography and art.
Judges for the event were Allan Hjertaas and Beth Trueman. Both judges did a great job sorting through all the entries, giving all the participants encouragement and constructive comments.
We are grateful to our many volunteers and the ladies who served the canteen lunch. Also to the Glenavon Agriculture Society and their wonderful volunteers who helped plan, set-up and assist in our day. The use of the wonderful, clean and safe facilities was much appreciated. The SportsPlex was the ideal location for this event for the animals and exhibitors.
Beef-A-Rama is a junior hereford cattle show for purebred and commercial hereford cattle. The event is organized by Rob and Dawn O'Connor of Lone Pine Cattle Services of Vibank, Saskatchewan.
