As the result of a bar check for a suspected under-age individual on Friday, the Weyburn police has arrested and charged a 21-year-old male with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime. The accused was released from custody on bail and will be making a court appearance in the future.
The Weyburn police are investigating a report of threats being uttered to an individual on Saturday. The matter is still under investigation awaiting more information.
City police received a report of a fraud where the victim received a legitimate cell phone bill from a legitimate company on Friday. The victim does not have an account with the company, so it appears that somehow the victim’s identity was compromised and a false account was set up.
Police received a report of a credit card fraud on March 31, resulting likely from a card having been skimmed while the victim was on holiday out of the country. This is a reminder to carefully check your credit card statements for any irregularities.
The Weyburn police are investigating a report of a banking fraud resulting in an actual loss to the victim. The victim received a telephone call from a person alleging to be from Western Union. During the series of conversations the victim, thinking that the situation was legitimate, made a series of deposits and wire transfers. This resulted in an actual loss of cash to the victim.
The police once again cautions people to not conduct any banking over the telephone unless you are the one who initiated the call, or to release any personal or banking information to anyone whose identity is not certain.
City police received a report of an unidentified vehicle that was caught on surveillance video depositing garbage into private garbage receptacles on March 28. This is an offence under the city’s bylaw. Residents are asked to refrain from putting garbage in bins other than your own.
The Weyburn police received a report of someone burning garbage in a fire pit on March 30. Under the provisions of the bylaw and the fire pit permit, only proper material is to be burned in a fire pit.
Police received a call on March 31 regarding a theft from a vehicle. At about 2 a.m. a dark-skinned male (possible African American) wearing what appeared to be a jumpsuit or coveralls with a reflective ‘X’ on the back, standing about five-foot-eight tall with medium build, was observed to smash out the window of a vehicle parked at the Kal-Tire lot and steal a purse that was inside.

The Weyburn police received a report of an assault in progress between a 16-year-old female and a 24-year-old male on March 31. When located the matter was determined to have been misreported.
City police responded to a request to remove an unwanted male from a residence on Friday. A 27-year-old intoxicated male was removed without incident.

As the result of a complaint a member of the Weyburn police’s CTSS Unit stopped a 30-year-old male driver on Saturday. The driver was arrested and is facing charges of impaired driving and driving over .08.
The Weyburn police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a 27-year-old male and his 29-year-old estranged spouse on Saturday. The male was removed from the property without further incident.
