A medical condition is believed to have caused a fatal single-vehicle accident in Estevan on Wednesday morning.
Estevan Police Service members were called to the accident in the 700 block of Sixth Street. Upon police arrival, a sports utility vehicle was noted on its side with a lone male occupant. The driver was checked and found to be unresponsive.
Estevan Fire and Rescue and the Estevan EMS were called and assisted in extracting the 79-year-old man. He was then transported to St Joseph’s hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Estevan RCMP’s Traffic Services and the EPS identification service were called to assist with the investigation. The matter remains under investigation, but it appears the accident was caused by a medical condition suffered by the driver.
