A head on collision has claimed the life of a 33-year-old Medicine Hat man who was working in the Estevan area.

Estevan RCMP report that at approximately 3:45 on Tuesday afternoon a half-ton pickup collided with a semi four kilometre's north of the city. The driver of the northbound pickup lost control and drove into the path of the southbound semi. He was declared dead at the scene while the semi driver sustained minor injuries and was released.

Traffic was rerouted around the scene for several hours as an RCMP traffic re-constructionist attended to the scene. The investigation is ongoing but police do not expect charges to be laid. Road conditions were poor at the time due to the strong wind and blowing snow, both of which are believed to have been a factor in the collision.
