Midale (cpd) - Midale Museum's Pioneer Echo Days will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16 and Sunday, Aug. 17 in the afternoon. The truck called 'Sunshine' will be in attendance at this year's show. It is a truck that sells material to make quilts. There will be a Kids Rodeo for children 10 and under held on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. Please call Melissa Rasmuson for more information.
The museum will be hosting a pancake breakfast on the Saturday and Sunday at the museum on Main Street from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Up at the village grounds, dinner can be bought at the food booth. After that, everything will be open, and residents can see all the farm machinery as well as go through the houses, school and church.
There will be fried bread dough available in one of the houses as well as homemade Saskatoon berry pie in the other house. They generally sell these until they run out or 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
At approximately 2 p.m., there will be a parade featuring the old machinery, as well as some old cars and trucks.

On Sunday, there will be an interdenominational church service starting at 11 a.m. at the church on the grounds. This is open for anybody.
There will be music provided both days of the event. This year they are also providing free camping space for anyone who plans to be around for the weekend. There is no power or water to these sites.
This August, the Midale Bethlehem Lutheran Church is sending a group of youth to Kamloops, B.C., for a youth rally. This gathering is called CLAY and is a gathering of Anglican and Lutheran youth from across Canada. The gathering takes place every two years at different locations across Canada and in 2014 will take place in Kamloops from Aug. 14-17.
This is a youth-centered program that empowers youth and develops leadership. They are seeking donations to help fund their trip and are having a fundraiser at the Mainprize Marketplace on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Former Midale and Estevan resident, Jean Swenson passed away at Mainprize Manor and Health Centre on July 27. Jean had just celebrated her 95th birthday a few weeks ago with many family members coming to help her celebrate.
Jean is survived by her sons, Ken (Barb) Swenson of Midale, Robert (Diane) of Calgary and David (Wendy) Swenson of Nampa, Alta. She also leaves six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister Agnes (Lyle) Peterman of Olds, Alta.; brother-in-law Peter Miller of Estevan; sister-in-law Joyce Fonstad of Estevan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayers were held on July 31 in the Chapel at Hall Funeral Services in Estevan. The funeral service was held on August 1 from the Midale Baptist Church. Interment took place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Weyburn.
