Nathan Mullen pleads guilty to manslaughter

Nathan Russell Mullen has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of Leslie Erin Dwyre, which occurred in Estevan in 2014. Mullen entered the guilty plea in Regina court on Friday, but it was not announced until Tuesday morning.

Nathan Russell Mullen has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of Leslie Erin Dwyre, which occurred in Estevan in 2014.

Mullen entered the guilty plea in Regina court on Friday, but it was not announced until Tuesday morning. A sentencing hearing will occur on Jan. 23, 2017.

Dwyre was found dead in her Petterson Drive home on April 21, 2014, after the Estevan Police Service (EPS) were notified of an incident in her home. She was 27 at the time. Mullen, who had been in a relationship with Dwyre, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder shortly after the incident, and has been in custody since his arrest.

Dwyre, who was originally from Brockville, Ont., had lived in the area for a couple of years and had taught at Bienfait Weldon School and Hillcrest School.
