A new bursary program was recently announced by the Southeast College and the Sun Country Health Region, which will benefit both students and the Health Region.
Students of the Continuing Care Assistant full time program may be eligible for up to $2,500 each in combined scholarship and bursary programs.
The combined programs include Sun Country Health Region bursaries, Southeast College entrance scholarships and the Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship.
“We are very excited about this partnership with Sun Country,” said Jeff Richards, Vice President of Strategic Development for the Southeast College. “This new partnership will bring additional bursary dollars directly to the students enrolled in Southeast College’s Continuing Care Assistant program”
The Continuing Care Assistant program is a 30 week program that teaches students the knowledge and skills that they need to work in this rewarding field of healthcare. Practicums throughout the course provide direct experience in home care, long term care, and acute care settings.
“This partnership benefits the region and ultimately those clients receiving services, as the region is able to hire candidates who already have the competencies and skills required for positions in our home care and long term care programs,” said Marga Cugnet, president and CEO of Sun Country Health Region.
Southeast College and Sun Country Health Region will be hosting a joint open house and information session in the Tatagwa View conference room on Thursday, June 30 at 1:30 p.m. Sun Country Health Region and Southeast College representatives will be in attendance to speak about the new bursary opportunity, employment opportunities within Sun Country Health Region, information about the program as well as information about the Student Services that Southeast College has to offer.
