One death from COVID-19 in Sask.; seven new cases in the southeast; 190 new cases in the province

For the third straight day, someone with COVID-19 has died in Saskatchewan. The individual was in their 80s and was from the north central zone. This brings the total number of deaths in the province to 29.

There are 190 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Monday, including seven in the southeast. None of the new cases are in Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan.

Five cases are in Southeast Zone 1, which is to the northwest of Zone 4. One case is in Zone 2, which is north of Zone 4, and one case is in Zone 3, which is to the west.

There are now 42 active cases of COVID-19 in the southeast; 18 of them are in Zone 4.

Seventy-eight cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the southeast since mid-March.

Out of the 190 new cases, 76 are from the Saskatoon region and 25 are from the Regina region. As for the rest of the province, 15 are located in the far northwest, one is in the far north central, four are in the far northeast, 19 are in the northwest, 15 are in the north central, six are in the northeast, two are in the central west, eight are in the central east, five are in the southwest and one is in the south central.

Six new cases have pending residence information. One case reported Saturday with pending residence information has been assigned to the northwest zone.

A total of 4,087 cases have been diagnosed in Saskatchewan; 1,289, or 31.5 per cent, are considered active. Twenty-two more people have recovered, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 2,769, or 67.8 per cent of those diagnosed.

Thirty-seven people are in hospital. Twenty-nine people are receiving inpatient care: one in the far northwest, one in the far northeast, two in the northwest, six in north central, 14 in Saskatoon, four in Regina and one in the southeast zones.  This is just the second time that there has been a report of someone being in hospital in the southeast.

Eight people are in intensive care: two in north central, four in Saskatoon and two in Regina.

A total of 2,505 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan on Sunday.
