Oxbow-area farmer Wayne Amos, who owns and operates Big Dog Seeds Inc., received an Outstanding Service Award at the recent annual general meeting of the Saskatchewan Seed Growers, held in Saskatoon.

Amose became a seed grower in 1997 and by 2002 he had become a select grower which qualified him to produce the highest generation of seed.

Since becoming a seed grower, Amos has received more than 300 crop certificates of pedigreed seed crops. In addition to the more common seed crops of flax, wheat, winter wheat, peas, lentils and oats, Amos has produced pedigreed seed crops of spelt, chickling vetch, pinto beans, hemp, perennial rye grains, green needle grass, northern wheat grass, western wheat grass, canola and soybeans.

Amos received the award from Roy Klym, president of the Saskatchewan Seed Growers Association.
