Pangman board to hold Big Muddy tour

Pangman — The Pangman Economic Development board is sponsoring another Big Muddy tour on Saturday, July 29. The Stagecoach Tour bus leaves the RM office at 9 a.m. The tickets are coming.

Pangman — The Pangman Economic Development board is sponsoring another Big Muddy tour on Saturday, July 29. The Stagecoach Tour bus leaves the RM office at 9 a.m. The tickets are coming. Adults cost $60 each, and for 16 and under, the cost is $50 each. People are to bring their own lunch, and water will be provided. There will be seven sites visited. The deadline to buy tickets is Saturday, July 15. Call Darlene Kessler for more information.

The Ogema Southern Prairie tour train is now sponsoring a Kids Fun train where the children get their face painted, get balloon animals plus more. The train runs July 15, August 12 and September 9. The train comes into Pangman and has lunch at the Community centre. The train is fully booked for July and August with a few seats available in September.

The Pangman farmers market will be held on Saturdays July 22, August 19 and September 16. The Southern Prairie train comes to Pangman for the market.

The Pangman swimming pool had the health inspector out and got a clean bill to have the pool opened for the summer. There were many volunteers that came out to paint, clean, scrub, organize and help with the pumps. The pool hours are 1 to 5 p.m. and 6-8 in the evenings. A family pass for season is $150; single is $75. A daily pass is $5, ages 2-4 is $2 and under two is free. Family daytime pass is $15 and family weekend pass is $75. More information will follow.

Pangman was very busy celebrating Canada Day on a beautiful July 1. The day started with a pancake breakfast, a big parade, Mayor Darlene Kessler welcomed everyone, a cake cutting was held, and there were children’s activities with Allison Kessler doing face-painting. Robin Larson presented Marlene and John Paton with the Best Yard Blooms award, and there was bingo, ball games, barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs, beer gardens and fireworks.

Matthew Kessler and Stephanie Moffatt returned home on July 5 after spending two weeks in Ontario visiting with Stephanie’s family and friends, and also attending a family wedding.

The Pangman public library will be having new hours starting on August 1. It will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30, then on Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m.

Barry Kessler retired as the Pangman Fire chief on May 28 after more then 50 years of service. Barry’s first fire he attended was the Khedive Hall. Barry was presented with gift certificates from the RM of Norton and the Village of Pangman in appreciation for all his years of service.

Some of the residents of the Deep South Personal Care Home rode on a float in the Canada Day parade on July 1 and some got to tour the town seeing the new house and gardens. Six residents participated in a bowling tournament on June 27, with Addie Johnson coming in first place with her score of 114 points, Marguerite Guest placed in second with 76 points and Eve Froh and Ella Ross tied for third with 65 points. 

Six residents participated in a bean bag tournament on July 6, with Marguerite Guest in first place with 58 points, Addie Johnson in second with 52 points and Muriel Horner in third place with 50 points. They also did crafts.

Many friends and family from Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan attended the wedding of Meagan Nagy and Richard Metke on June 24 at the Ogema park. 

A few Pangman residents attended the Pangman cemetery cleanup on June 26. Another day for the cleanup was held June 29.

Barry and Isobel Sample returned home on June 8 after going on an Alaskan cruise. While gone they also visited with Sharon (Mierow) Low in Vancouver, B.C.

The Pangman dance club will be taking over the Pangman, Khedive, Parry community calendars as of September. The Pangman United Church has donated the money made from this fundraiser to the Deep South Personal Care home, the Pangman dance club and the Pangman library.

Theresa Bell is now a resident at Bison Manor in Weyburn.

The Pangman/Ogema Peaches fastball team played in Pangman against the Ceylon Devils with Pangman winning 17-2.

Vi Kessler from the Radville Marian Home visited with her family at the Kessler farm on June 25. Those present included her children Tom and Debbie Kessler and grandson Stewart, Boyd and Debbie Kessler, Darlene Kessler, Val Heustis and her great-grandsons Maddox and Jaxon.

Sabrina Youck and Michael Callfas have resigned from the Pangman School staff. The student-of-the-month award for June for the Kindergarten to Grade 3 class went to Paige DeBruyne for her consistent effort and hard work in all her learning activities in the classroom the kindergarten; for Grades 4-6, the student was Hailey Hatt for being sure to include other people in activities, even in difficult situations. For Grades 7-9, the student was Kianna Wolstenholme for maintaining her focus and doing quality work throughout June. For Grades 10-12, the student was Troy Crowe for his enthusiasm during the Grades 10-12 field trip to Fort Walsh.
