Deer incident occurred on the evening of Aug. 24.
ESTEVAN — Members of the Estevan Fire Rescue Service (EFRS) had a busy week from Aug. 18-24, with nine calls for service.
On Aug. 18 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the EFRS was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the northeast area. Crews responded and investigated. The alarm was due to a cooking-related issue. Crews ventilated the structure and ensured the alarm was reset.
The EFRS was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision in northeast Estevan on Aug. 20 at approximately 10:35 a.m. Crews responded and assisted at the scene, alongside the Estevan Police Service and Estevan Emergency Medical Services. Damage was reported to the vehicles. One person was taken to hospital with what the EPS said were minor injuries.
That same day at approximately 5:05 p.m., the EFRS was dispatched to a possible electrical transformer fire in the southwest area. Crews responded and isolated the area until SaskPower could arrive to troubleshoot and repair the issue.
On Aug. 22 at approximately 8:45 p.m., the EFRS was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm activated in northeast Estevan. Crews responded and investigated. It was determined to be a cooking-related issue. Crews ventilated and ensured the alarm was reset.
Members were dispatched to a collision southeast of the city between a vehicle and a deer on Aug. 24 at approximately 8:40 p.m. Crews responded and determined the fire department's assistance was not required. RCMP assisted at the scene. The EFRS said no injuries were reported, but the vehicle needed to be towed.
The fire department also responded to four other commercial alarms that were all deemed to be false.
