ESTEVAN — A vehicle colliding with a deer and a pasture fire were among the recent calls for the Estevan Fire Rescue Service.
On July 21 at approximately 8:30 p.m., the EFRS was called to a home northeast of the city to investigate a possible gas leak. The on-call duty officer responded with gas detection equipment. No gas levels were detected but an odour was present. SaskEnergy was requested to the scene to further troubleshoot the issue with the homeowner.
On July 23 at approximately 5:20 p.m., the EFRS was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in southeast Estevan. Crews responded and investigated. The EFRS said no emergency was occurring. The alarm was due to cleaning on site. Crews reset the fire alarm and returned to the station.
The following day at approximately 10 p.m., the EFRS was dispatched to a vehicle-versus-deer collision northeast of Estevan. Crews responded and assisted. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle suffered enough damage that it needed to be towed from the scene.
On July 25 at 8:40 p.m., the EFRS was dispatched to a field fire northwest of the city. Crews responded and found a small fire occurring in a pasture field. Crews made access and quickly extinguished the fire without incident. The cause of the fire is believed to be weather-related from a storm that went through area at the time.
