Pangman (cpd) - There will be a Saskatchewan's Only Tour Train fundraiser, at the Pangman school at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 15. Plans will be made for a platform to be built in Pangman for the train to stop at.
There will also be food, music, and prizes. The guest speaker will be Cheryl Generous, CEO of the Southern Prairie Railway. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children 6-12, and children under five get in free.
There will also be a draw for two to ride the train as well as a 50/50. The event is sponsored by the Pangman and Area Economic Development Board in conjunction with Southern Prairie Railway.
High winds and warm weather have helped dry up some fields in the Pangman area. Some farmers continue to try to finish their spring seeding.
The lady residents of Sunnyview Place and their activity director Robin Larson had a bridal shower for their administrator, Lisa Still, during the afternoon of June 5.
The ladies played games, the bride-to-be opened gifts, and Effie Devine presented Lisa with some money. Karen Muckalt decorated the cake. During the evening another bridal shower was held for Lisa with the staff and board member present. Lisa will be getting married in August.
The Pangman farmers market will again start for the spring on the morning of June 23. Tables are free, with many vendors selling their crafts, baking, garage sale items, and garden items. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Word was received on June 2 of the passing of Eugene "Gene" Gartner, age 89, of Parry. Funeral services were held at the Broadway United Church in Regina on June 7.
Kelly Clifton and children, Kadan and Jayme, motored from Regina on June 2 to visit with Kelly's mom Val Heustis.
Helen Clark, resident of Sunnyview Place, motored with her daughter Betty and Gerry Tondevold to Drinkwater on June 5, to attend the bridal shower of her great granddaughter, Brook Verboom.
During the June 1 weekend, Lowell Heustis came from Weekes to visit with Glen and Sharon Svedhal.
The weekly bowling tournament at Sunnyview Place occurred on June 5, with six residents participating. The group played 10 frames. Ada Murray placed first with a score of 105 points, Effie Devine came in second with 96 points and Gerry Taylor placed third with a score of 82 points.
Nine residents of Sunnyview Place participated in their weekly Bean Bag Toss on June 7, playing 10 ends. Doris Sambrook came in first with 63 points, Helen Clark placed second with 56 points and Ada Murray came in third with a score of 50 points.
On the afternoon of Monday, June 18, the Abundant Living Center will be entertaining the birthday celebration at Sunnyview Place.
