The Weyburn Police Service were notified of a possible domestic disturbance in a local business on Thursday. Prior to attending the 22-year-old male had fled on foot. Thanks to the keen observations of the Weyburn police dispatch to a message that had been received, a 30-year-old female was taken into custody at the scene and is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a drug (Crystal Meth).
Within a short time and while still searching for the male a vehicle was reported stolen from a local food outlet. Even prior to this vehicle being reported as stolen the Weyburn police, while on patrol, observed this vehicle being driven erratically and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. This began a very short police pursuit north of Weyburn which was terminated when the vehicle entered onto a grid road and too great a hazard was created by the dust.
Within an hour of stopping the chase, the Fillmore RCMP, who were aware of the stolen vehicle, located the vehicle and driver who was arrested without incident. A 22-year-old male from Manitoba is facing numerous charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, theft of a vehicle, dangerous driving, flight from police while being pursued, possession of a drug (Crystal Meth), and various breaches of court conditions. Both the female and male were remanded in custody and made a court appearance in Weyburn on June 14.
The Weyburn police have received a number of parking complaints from area residents in the area of Government Road and First Avenue North. The police wish to remind patrons of businesses in that location that when parking driveways cannot be blocked, you cannot stop, even briefly, including in no parking areas that are identified by sign or yellow curbing,
The Weyburn police received a report of a number of unknown individuals tipping over flower pots on Government Road near the rail tracks on Saturday. Anyone having information on this is asked to contact either the Weyburn Police Service, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The Weyburn police responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance just after midnight on June 8. The incident occurred between a 37-year-old male and a 26-year-old female. Although the male had left the area prior to the police arriving he is facing a charge of assault.
The Weyburn police are investigating a report of a telephone fraud involving a Canada Revenue Agency scam. The police wish to strongly remind the citizens that CRA does not conduct such business over the telephone and without official written correspondence.
City police received a report of a theft of lawn and garden tools from the 200 block of Douglas Road on Thursday.
The Weyburn police are investigating a report of threatening texts being sent on Friday. The matter is still under investigation.
While on routine patrol on Friday, a vehicle was stopped by members of the Weyburn police for a traffic violation. As a result of the stop a 19-year-old male was arrested and is facing charges of possession of marijuana. He will be making a subsequent court appearance.
City police received a report from concerned citizens about a public altercation between a 37-year-old female and 39-year-old male on Saturday. As a result of the investigation the 37-year-old male is facing a charge of breach of conditions.
City police received a report of a domestic disturbance between a 22-year-old male and a 25-year-old female on Sunday. As a result of police intervention the male willingly left the residence for the night.
City police received a report on Sunday of a missing eight-year-old child. The child was quickly located and had simply wandered away from home.
