Estevan Police Service members have been kept busy with a variety of calls during the past few days.
Two thefts were reported during the Feb. 8 night shift. One theft was from a vehicle and the other was from a residential property.
Police received a called through the Report Impaired Drivers (RID) line during the Feb. 9 night shift. The caller had been following a suspected impaired driver. Police patrolled the area but were unsuccessful in locating the vehicle.
Officers received a report during the Feb. 10 day shift of a vehicle being vandalized in a south Estevan parking lot. Individuals used what appeared to be a key to scrape the side of the vehicle. The matter remains under investigation.
Police were also called to St. Joseph's Hospital on the report of a female sleeping in the waiting area. She was provided transportation by police to another location in the city without incident.
Traffic services conducted several check stops throughout the city during the Feb. 11 night shift. Numerous vehicles were checked and no impaired drivers were located. Several traffic-related tickets were issued to drivers for various offences.
Police also investigated several reported hit-and-run accidents. The matters are under investigation.
A wallet was found at a local hockey rink and turned over to police during the Feb. 12 night shift. Anyone with information is asked to call the EPS or visit the police station to identify the wallet.
Many check stops were initiated throughout the night, with the focus being impaired driving and other offences. The EPS is happy to report there weren’t any impaired drivers. Traffic stops were initiated which resulted in charges under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding and intersection-related offences.
Police received a complaint of an individual in breach of court ordered conditions during the Feb. 13 day shift. The matter is under investigation.
Officers also received a complaint about someone receiving death threats. The matter is still under investigation. The RCMP has been requested to assist in the investigation.
Members responded to a complaint of a fight between two males, outside a local lounge, during the Feb. 13 night shift. The incident was found to not to be a fight and one Saskatoon resident was provided a safe place to stay for the night.
Members stopped numerous vehicles throughout the city and no impaired drivers were located.
Several tickets were issued under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act for offences at a minor hockey game.
Police received a report from a seniors' apartment building during the Feb. 14 day shift that there were pedestrian tracks around all the vehicles in the parking lot, and someone might have entered the vehicles. Police attended to investigate, and learned that a Good Samaritan took the time to sweep off all the snow from the cars. Nothing criminal took place.
Members responded to a hit-and-run accident during the Feb. 14 night shift. The suspect driver and vehicle were located a short time later. It is still under investigation.
Police attended to an accident, in which a driver hit a wagon wheel that had fallen on the road. Debris was removed and driver was referred to Saskatchewan General Insurance.
Members responded to a complaint of a semi-trailer unit with inadequate lights. The vehicle was located on Fourth Street and issued a ticket for failing to follow the truck route.
