Police investigate a B&E and theft

The Weyburn Police Service responded to a report of a break, enter and theft at a business on Friday. Sometime overnight a door was forced open and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

City police are investigating a report of a hit-and-run vehicle collision involving a fire hydrant located at the corner of Hartney Avenue and 13th Street on Saturday. From the vehicle debris left at the scene the suspect vehicle is believe to be white in colour.
This type of incident is particularly serious as the hydrant was damaged not only causing a leak, but also disabling the hydrant which would have a serious impact in the event of a fire in the area. Anyone with any information that may assist in either identifying the suspect vehicle, or the driver responsible is asked to contact either the Weyburn Police Service, or to call Crime Stoppers.
The Weyburn police are investigating a report of vandalism done to a vehicle in the area of the Comp School on Jan. 11. The vehicle was damaged by having some tires slashed. Anyone having any information on this matter is asked to contact either the Weyburn Police Service, or to call Crime Stoppers.
City police were called to a residence to remove an unruly family member at about 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 11. The 38-year-old male was removed without incident and taken to another residence.
The Weyburn police dealt with a 38-year-old male at the Weyburn police office at about 9:35 p.m. on Jan. 11. The male was intoxicated and agitated walking out of the building and onto a street where he was nearly struck by a vehicle. He was arrested at that point for being intoxicated in public and a minor scuffle ensued before he was taken into custody.
City police received a report of a man laying on the street at about 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon attending they located a 30-year-old male who was under the influence of alcohol. He was given a ride to his residence.
Police received a report of an unruly person at a residence on Thursday. Upon attending the police discovered that there was a domestic issue and that the 47-year-old male was no longer welcome at the residence. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held in cells until sober.
The Weyburn police received a report of a lottery scam by telephone on Friday.
Police continually urge people to be extremely cautious in conducting any business over the phone where you have been contacted in the first instance and where you are asked to give out either personal or financial information.
The Weyburn police received a report of a suspicious person sitting on the Third Street bridge on Friday. Upon attending the police found a 60-year-old female suffering from a medical issue. The issue was resolved and the female went on her way.
The Weyburn police conducted a traffic stop just after midnight on Sunday. As the result the 45-year-old driver was charged with driving while his licence was suspended. The vehicle was impounded.
The Weyburn police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Sunday at about 3 a.m. The 18-year-old male driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. He was charged with driving over .08 and had the vehicle impounded. He will be making a court appearance in the future.
At about 3:40 am on Sunday, a police member on patrol came across a distraught 32-year-old woman. She was taken to the hospital to seek medical attention.
The Weyburn police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by a 24-year-old male on Sunday. There was suspicion that the driver was under the influence of marijuana. As a result, a Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted and passed. There was no further action taken.
Even though the driver in this case was operating within the law we wish to remind everyone that driving and being impaired by a drug, even a legally prescribed drug, is a criminal offence. There are officers trained in the detection of driving under the influence of a drug.
