Another scam has returned to Weyburn, as the Weyburn police are investigating a report of a fraudulent email scam where the computer owner is advised that the computer is in need of repair and to provide a credit card number. The police wish to remind everyone that unless you have specifically initiated a business transaction on-line you should not provide any information to the other party until you verify that they are legitimate.
A member of the Weyburn police’s CTSS Unit conducted a traffic stop at about 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday. This resulted in a 31-year-old male being arrested and charged with failing to provide a roadside breath sample. He will be making a court appearance. If convicted, this offence carries the same penalty as being over .08 or driving while impaired.
City police received a report of an assault at a local sports facility on Friday. The matter is still under investigation but is an isolated incident with unique circumstances, and police have no concern for the general safety of the community.
City police responded to a report of a minor domestic issue at a residence at about 10:40 p.m. on Sunday. As a result of being called back a second time, an 18-year-old male was taken into custody and later released. No charges are pending.
City police received a call regarding a male person who was apparently passed out in the downtown area on Sept. 13. A 54-year-old male was located and was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was also charged with breach of a court condition and will be making a court appearance.
Motorists are reminded that the 30 km/h school zones are in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Meanwhile, Milestone RCMP members responded to a complaint of a break and enter and theft at a business in Avonlea on Sept. 14 at approximately 3:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, the business owner advised that numerous firearms had been stolen. RCMP Forensic Identification Section attended the scene and is assisting in the ongoing investigation. No suspects were located in regards to this incident.
