Late on June 6, police received a call from a witness who noticed two individuals walking in an area and behavior that caused concern. The caller felt they were throwing rocks at some construction equipment, and urinating in the street. Police attended to find the windows of a dozer smashed out. A search of the area located the two individuals responsible. After the investigation police charged the one individual for four counts of mischief to property, the second individual was charged with two counts of mischief and urinating in a public place. Both men were 19 years of age and lodged in cells until released the next day on the charges. They will appear in court later this month.
On Friday, police attended to a number of complaints dealing with barking dogs, noisy parties and fireworks being set off. As the weather gets nicer and people tend to gather outside and people leave their widows open there tends to be an increase of these types of calls. Police asks the cooperation of people to respect their neighbors, and keep noise under control. If you keep a pet in the yard it is your responsibility to keep them and the noise they make under control. If the incidents of noise continue home owners can expect to be charged under the noise bylaw.
Police received information on June 4 from a parent that her children had been assaulted by their father. The matter is being investigated by police, where they have also involved Social Service as it involves a child protection issue.
City police received a complaint on June 4 that a waitress at a local restaurant had her wallet stolen from her unlocked vehicle over the lunch hour. As the police investigate the matter they remind residents to ensure they lock their vehicles when unattended and keep valuables out of plain sight.
Police attended a call early on June 5 where a parent and their child had a physical altercation when the child slept in for school. The matter which involved the school and Social Services has been temporarily resolved by finding alternate residency for the child. The matter which is still under investigation will likely not result in criminal charges.
City police attended a motor vehicle accident in a residential area at noon on June 5. A vehicle backing out of a driveway struck another vehicle. The operator was charged for unsafe backing under the Traffic Safety Act.
On June 5, police dealt with a domestic dispute where a female alleged she was pushed by her common-law spouse. The situation resulted in the laying of a peace bond information where the matter will be dealt with in court.
Later the same day, police responded to another domestic conflict. During the incident a window was broken in the home. The individuals were separated for the night to resolve any further incidents.
Police attended a downtown business on June 6, where a young male was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain likely as a result of substance abuse. The male was taken to hospital for medical attention.
City police attended to a local bar early on June 6 when two patrons who were kicked out would not leave the area. The two Calgary men were given a ride to another hotel where they had lodging.
Police received information on June 6 that there were road signs belonging to the City of Weyburn situated in the backyard of a residence. The occupants of the residence denied knowledge of how they got there. As a result the road signs were returned and will be replaced on the street they were taken from.
Police dealt with a new driver who had lost control of his vehicle while making a turn and collided into the curb on June 6. Statements were taken and an accident report filed.
City police received another complaint of a stolen wallet out of a parked vehicle on June 6 in the downtown area. The matter is under investigation, but without a witness to the event any chance of recovering the property or finding the person(s) responsible is unlikely.
City police received a call the morning of June 7 from the skateboard park regarding graffiti that had occurred on a variety of pieces of equipment. Police have attended on occasion to speak with users of the park to respect the property. It has been suggested to the property managers to try and light the area better to discourage this type of behavior.
Police attended to an east-side residence the evening of June 7 in regard to a domestic dispute as a result of a 911 call. The 25-year-old male was lodged in cells for being drunk. The female and children went to stay with a friend. The couple is continuing to try and resolve the underlying anger issues.
City police attended a fight in progress behind a local bar late Friday night. The two combatants were known to each other and work together. They were looked after by other co-workers and taken home without further incidents.
Also late Friday, police attended to the rooms at a hotel and removed two unwanted guests who were making noise. The individuals left when encouraged to do so by the police.
At midnight Friday, police attended to a bar fight outside a local bar. There was a large crowd congregated outside on police arrival. Police arrested three individuals for fighting where they were taken into custody.
Police dealt with a 31-yr.-old male outside a local bar early on Saturday. He was found urinating in a public place and became beligerant and non-cooperative. Once other officers arrived he became more cooperative and was subsequently charged for urinating In public.
Police were called to a local hotel off-sale to deal with an individual who was intoxicated and disoriented early Saturday. The individual was escorted off the premises without incident.
City police attended to a domestic dispute early Saturday morning involving a physical altercation between siblings. The complainant was reluctant to cooperate with police to support charges.
City police came across an accident Saturday evening where an eastbound vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle after it drove through a stop sign. The offending vehicle left the scene. Occupants from the other vehicle were able to provide police with a plate number as well as identify the driver. Investigation is ongoing and charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failing to stop at a stop sign are pending.
Police attended a noisy party complaint late Saturday night, where occupants of the residence were setting off fireworks. The individuals were charged under the bylaw for setting off fireworks which carries a $100 fine.
City police attended a local bar as the owner felt there was a chance a fight would break out late Saturday night. The one individual was given a ride home before any conflict could occur.
At 2:43 a.m. on June 10, after a routine traffic stop police arrested a 27-year-old man for impaired operation, and driving while over .08. The man will appear in court later this month on the charges.
The Fillmore RCMP have asked for the public's assistance to solve a break-and-enter to Stoughton's twon office.
Police report the Stoughton town office was broken into sometime during the night of May 30 or the early morning hours of May 31.
Once the culprit(s) entered the building through the front door, every other locked door inside was broken into as well.
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the town safe, a small amount of cash was stolen from the library, the lawyer's office was broken into as was the town chambers.
